Around the Neighborhood

In an attempt to ward off unemployment-induced boredom, I went around my neighborhood and took photos. Here are the results:
A friend and I also went yesterday to Harriet Island to walk around and kill some time. I brought my camera along so here are the photos from that:

There are more and I'll post those later. It takes awhile to get them uploaded on here and frankly, I'm tired of doing it right now! So, I'll post the rest of the Harriet Island ones later.

Aperture: The smaller the aperture the bigger the depth of field - items are sharp from close up to far away.
Shutter speed: The quicker the shutter speed the sharper moving items are seen. Items crossing in front of you (side to side) are likely to blur.

A small aperture AND a fast shutter speed require a high ISO number. For fast moving items we use a large aperture and a fast shutter speed and focus carefully. For static scenes we use a small aperture and a slow shutter speed and we brace the camera against movement.
